40 Years of WIS - Digital Timeline

Digital Timeline

This year, as part of celebrations for 40 years of the Women's Information Service, an interactive digital timeline has been developed that shows the development of the service over time. Beginning in the 1970s with the creation of the Women's Adviser role, the timeline progresses through the decades illustrating ways in which WIS has grown and changed with the community, across different premises and platforms. While the political and social climate may have changed throughout this time, WIS has always sought to empower South Australian women with the knowledge and tools to make informed decisions about every aspect of their lives.

The timeline shows that while service delivery platforms and locations of WIS have changed, many of the issues the service was created to address are still evident in our community today, revealing a strong need for the continuation of initiatives like WIS.
