Privacy Statement
This statement has been written in accordance with the Commonwealth Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles.
The Office for Women is committed to protecting the privacy of personal information provided during the use of the Family Safety Portal (FSP).
Collection of Personal Information
The FSP collects and stores a range of personal information including:
- Names, date of births, address and contact details of registered users, Agency/Service Offices, clients, and associated parties, including details of children
- Specific information relating to court proceedings and orders; health information relating to risk of harm; domestic family or sexual violence or child protection matters (including copies of relevant documentation);
- Case notes and actions
This information is collected for the purposes of ensuring the Family Safety Framework can operate efficiently across South Australia providing a coordinated multi agency response to persons at risk of serious injury or death from domestic, family or sexual violence.
Storage of Personal Information
Personal information will be collected, recorded, and stored on the FSP database, with the data stored in the South Australian Government Tenancy. This information is protected by the use of strong user passwords, firewalls, malware detection software and multi-factor authentication.
Disclosure of information
The aim of the FSP is to facilitate the sharing of information between authorised agency/service representatives to facilitate timely and effective multi agency responses to reduce the risk of harm to persons experiencing domestic, family, or sexual violence. Accordingly, the information will be disclosed and shared amongst the necessary agencies in accordance with the Information Sharing Guidelines and Information Sharing Protocol, including:
- South Australia Police
- Attorney-General's Department
- SA Health
- Department of Correctional Services
- Department of Education
- Department of Child Protection
- SA Housing Authority
- Department of Human Services
- Office for Women (Department for Human Services)
- Women's Domestic Violence Services
- Other relevant, state government funded, non-government organisations.
Access to your personal information
You can request access to your information by contacting the Office for Women. We will undertake to provide this as soon as possible. You will be required to sign a consent form and your information may be sent by registered post or secure email to you or to your legal representative, if required.
Access to your client information
You can request access to client information by contacting the Office for Women. Should you be authorised to access this information, we will undertake to provide this as soon as possible. You will be required to sign a consent form and this information may be sent by registered post or secure email to you.
Access to your agency's information
You can ask for access to your agencies information by contacting the Office for Women. Should you be authorised to access this information we will undertake to provide this as soon as possible. You will be required to sign a consent form and your information may be sent by registered post or secure email to you.
Complaints about information
If you have any complaints about the privacy of your personal and/or sensitive information you can make a complaint in writing to the Office for Women.
